History
Tae Kwon Do is considered a young martial art. Originating in Korea in 1945, and became widely known as Tae Kwon Do after 1959 with the formation of the Korean Tae Kwon Do association and has been increasing in popularity since as it is practiced all over the world and has become popular for many reasons. There are a few stiles of Tae Kwon Do, most know WT (World Taekwondo) stile which is known as sport Tae Kwon Do that you see in the Olympics. Mighty Oak is ITF stile (International Taekwondo Federation) which is not sport, and is inline with traditional Tae Kwon Do with emphasis on self defense and beliefs the Art encompasses, like the 5 Tenants. |
