ClassesTae Kwon Do teaches respect, and discipline, while building strength, confidence, and self control. It is a fun way to get into shape and learn how to defend yourself. Solidarity, unity, and team work will build lasting relationships and give our class a family like feel. When we’re down, we pick each other up through our worst moments, and toughest struggles. On the other side of that, we witness and celebrate our most special moments and accomplishments. We welcome children as young as 10 years old and adults of all ages.

StrikesEffective weaponless art of self defense, and method of gaining and or maintaining all around fitness. Includes kicks of all kinds from basic, jumping kicks, spinning kicks, and jump spinning kicks. Punches, openhanded strikes, and blocks.
Some takedowns, limb breaks, and free sparring. Board BreakingThe ability to break boards is a great way to demonstrate technique and mental focus. Everyone from a grown man and woman to a small young girl or boy are expected to break the same 12x12 by 1in thick wood board. It doesn’t matter your size, if technique is wrong and your head isn’t in the game, the board will NOT break no matter your size. A great example of having enough mental focus, combined with technique to harness the energy and put it through that board with desired strik. For these reasons it makes them a great way to test your skill, with full speed, and full power. Widely respected as a display of power, mental focus, and the strength of the striker.

FormsForms are a crucial part of TKD training, characterized by direction, technique, stance and strikes. Exaggerates all our movements into a specific pattern, while demonstrating balance, concentration and ability to change directions quickly and smoothly. Improves stances and strikes. This connects the mind and body and creates muscle memory for all movements and techniques. Disciplines the body to control breathing by exhaling on execution of strikes and inhaling in between. One form is required for each color belt test, 12 total to get the Black Belt.

One stepsOne steps help develop proper technique. Simulates an attack on the practitioner to allow them to demonstrate techniques being taught, onto a stationary target, using blocks, strikes and kicks. Timing, distance and control are displayed. 21 total one steps, 3 required for each color belt test until reaching all 21.

Sparring
Sparring is another import part of our training. We do light contact to body and head with punches and kicks, with combinations and footwork, no elbows, knees, or open hand strikes on each other, and all kicks above the belt. You will learn the difference between sparring with classmates and also what to do and not to do if you ever get into a situation where you have to defend yourself, both will serve you well.We also do some self defense techniques and takedowns, but we do not do this to each other during sparring.
Our Belt System
Our Belt system is symbolized as the growth of a tree, or going from a baby to an adult, and is a reward system of breaking down the process of going from a white belt to getting your 1st Degree Black Belt.
