Meet Mrs. Roo
In 2017 , I ( Maria Gautreaux) attended my first ever martial arts class which was Tae Kwon Do. I always had an interest in martial arts as a child watching Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, and Jean Claude Van Dam movies and westerns just to name a few. After four years of hard training I earned my 2nd degree black belt. On a more personal level I have been happily married for 11 years and we have two dogs.
Fitness has always been part of my life, and even more so after starting TKD. After earning my 1st degree black belt, I decided to become a personal trainer. Overweight when I started TKD, I lost 32 lbs. After a few injuries, I learned how important fitness is for TKD and a happy, healthy life as we age. I chose to expand my knowledge of fitness to help me train smarter and safer in order to be my best at TKD and to help others in TKD and/or on their fitness journey. In 2021, I became a Certified Personal Trainer through American Counsel for Exercise (ACE) and continue to expand my knowledge as a personal trainer.
My goal is to honor Tae Kwon Do as an Art, by passing down what I was taught and what I know with integrity staying true to this beautiful Art. I will direct my students with instruction and support, and be a leading example by continuing to train and work toward my 3rd degree black belt.
